Management has warned employees at the Washington DC headquarters of NBC that asbestos is present at a part of the building. According to the information given earlier this week, asbestos is present of the first floor of the building.
The NBC management notified the employees regarding the hazard via an e-mail.
“Please be advised that we have discovered that glue on the back of baseboard material in the first floor across the back of the buildings has been found to contain asbestos,” the e-mail says.
According to reports, the area where asbestos was discovered had been the place for a new WRC news room.
The location had been formerly used by Chuck Todd, political director and chief White House correspondent for NBC News, Lisa Myers, the senior investigative correspondent for NBC Nightly News, and the WRC sports crew.
The e-main assures the staff that the locations outside the contaminated area will also be monitored and tested in order to make sure that there are no airborne fibers of the cancer-causing substance. The inhalation of asbestos fibers may result in deadly diseases such as asbestosis and mesothelioma.
